The Air Jordan 3 Retro GS 'Flip' (Style Code: 315768-101) is a historic kids'-exclusive version of one of Jordan Brand’s most innovative design experiments.
The Concept of the "Flip"
Originally launched in March 2007, the "Flip" completely reimagined the traditional Air Jordan 3 silhouette designed by Tinker Hatfield. On a standard Jordan 3, the shoe features a smooth or tumbled leather base accented by sections of "elephant print" on the mudguard, toe box, and heel.
As the name implies, the "Flip" turned this layout upside down:
- The Upper: The entire main body of the shoe is swapped out for the signature grey elephant print.
- The Overlays: Smooth, premium white leather wraps around the mudguard, toe, and heel where the elephant print usually sits.
- Accents: The style features metallic chrome eyelets and a classic black Jumpman logo on the heel and tongue.
The GS Edition (315768-101)
The GS (Grade School) edition was released alongside the adult version as a direct "takedown" style. It preserved all the core aesthetic elements of the adult shoe—including the flipped print layout and the visible Air unit in the sole—tailored specifically for kids and youth sizing.
