The style code 136027-120 belongs to the Air Jordan 5 Retro "Fire Red" (Black Tongue), which was released on August 31, 2013. This iconic colorway features a crisp white leather upper, a striking black tongue accented by a Fire Red Jumpman logo, and the signature embroidered number "23" at the ankle. Inspired originally by the Supermarine Spitfire Mk VIII fighter jet, Tinker Hatfield's design stands out with its transparent mesh paneling and translucent red lace locks.  The Air Jordan 5 "Fire Red" (Black Tongue) has one of the most unique and historically rich timelines in Jordan Brand history, punctuated by design adjustments that kept sneakerheads debating for decades.  

The 1990 Blueprint
Designed by legendary Nike architect Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 5 debuted in 1990. Its design took sharp cues from the American P-51 Mustang WWII fighter plane, translating the plane's aggressive paint schemes into the iconic jagged "shark teeth" on the midsole. 
The "Fire Red" concept actually birthed two distinct versions in 1990: 
  1. The Silver Tongue version (featuring a highly reflective 3M tongue, a black midsole, and no lateral number).
  2. The Black Tongue version (featuring a soft black fabric tongue, a vibrant red midsole, and Michael Jordan’s player number "23" embroidered on the lateral ankle).
