The primary historical significance of the "Infrared" colorway lies in its layout. Designers utilized the exact color-blocking scheme of the 2013 Air Jordan 4 "Green Glow". Instead of minty green accents, Jordan Brand swapped in the radiant "Infrared 23" neon hue—a bright red-orange shade deeply rooted in Chicago Bulls heritage. 

The upper construction swaps traditional leather for a smooth, multi-shaded durabuck (synthetic nubuck) finish. A lighter cement grey wraps the toe overlay, while a darker charcoal grey dominates the main body. 

• The Greys: The upper features a split-tone arrangement. A lighter Cement Grey covers the toe box wrap, while a deeper Dark Grey covers the midfoot panels, ankle collar, and tongue.
• The Blacks: Solid matte black accents ground the design, appearing on the plastic mesh netting, structural lace wings, heel tab, and the upper section of the midsole.
• The Infrared: The defining pop comes from Infrared 23—a vibrant, neon red-orange hue. It punches up the four molded plastic eyelets, the woven Jumpman tongue label, and the interior fabric lining.

• Durabuck Upper: The entire grey body is built from smooth, synthetic nubuck (Durabuck). This gives the sneaker a uniform, matte finish and a soft, velvety texture that resists creasing better than standard leather.
• Quarter Mesh Netting: The signature side and throat panels utilize a breathable molded plastic mesh overlay stitched tight against black textile underlays.
• Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU): The structural "wings," lower eyelets, and prominent heel pull-tab are molded from rigid TPU plastic to retain the classic 1989 support framework.
